Peter Willcox by Giovanna Rudis Born March 6th, 1953 in Woodstock, Vermont, Willcox had a relatively normal childhood, and his education ends at the high school level with the Putney School in Vermont. Notably enough, Willcox’s childhood was marked by early exposure to activism, as both of his parents were politically active. Attending various civil rights demonstrations as a child, he developed experience and interest in activism. After spending time doing research on humpback whales, Willcox would devote his career to marine and environmental activism. Peter Willcox joined Greenpeace’s ranks after taking a position to be a deckhand on the Rainbow Warrior.
